The College's Flourishing at University series is one of the best things we do for Freshers – my thanks to Luke, Lynda and all the new Tutors (new and old) for assisting our many Freshers come to terms with the demands of University education. In the last few weeks I have been interviewing Freshers, selected at random, and asking their reflections on College and University life after the first six weeks. They are always valuable conversations and everyone so far has been immensely positive. In the past I have made the following observations about what I call - The Happiest Fresher!!
My long experience of College life tells me that in following these simple guidelines you may well succeed!!
The Happiest Fresher is one who:
Passes
Keeps in regular contact with their family
Is active and supportive
Attends
Eats well, sleeps well, socialises and meets new people from many Colleges
Has something in life beyond King's College and
Recognises when they are in trouble and seeks help
I hope you are all doing well and enjoying all that King's has to offer!
It's important that everyone has a break over the mid semester period. Enjoy a rest - the period after the break leading up to the first semester examinations is frenetic to say the least!
It's been a great start to the year – thank you all.
