Wellbeing Week 2024

We recently celebrated Wellbeing Week, a 'feel good' initiative led by our Residential Leadership Team aimed at boosting our PERMAH (Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Accomplishment, and Health). This model serves as the foundation for our community's holistic approach to wellbeing.

We kicked off the week with a 'Community Dinner.' Like a family dinner with friends, this event set the tone for the days ahead, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie.

Students who were able draw on their strength of 'self-control,' managed to roll out of bed bright and early the next morning to go for a walk/run followed by a delicious BBQ breaky on the quad.

On Wednesday morning, we started the day with a Latin-inspired Zumba class, which really got the heart rate and positive emotions flowing! The class was such a hit that some students have signed up to continue taking classes in Toowong.

Thursday was initially planned to include 'puppy cuddles' but a last-minute cancellation led some of our students to come up with an innovative solution by 'BYOing' their own pooch to King's for a cuddle. The day concluded with a creative painting session of wine and pint glasses on the terrace where students also enjoyed some cheese and a good chat.

The week wrapped up on Friday with a fresh juice from the juice van 'Jarva Juice.' Students enjoyed hanging out in the winter sun on the forecourt. Our International students are far from home, and sometimes it's nice to be able to connect with people who understand what that's like, so we organised a gathering for them at 'Grilled' on Friday evening.

Overall, Wellbeing Week serves as a powerful reminder to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle and to keep looking after each other. Here's to continuing our journey towards greater wellbeing together.
