Hi! I’m Maike - Associate Director of Student Wellbeing here at King's and I’m here to support you!
One of the ways through which I do that is positive psychology coaching. Coaching is a conversation between a coach and client (the coachee). The coachee will do most of the talking, while the coach is there to provide feedback, paraphrase, listen actively, and ask powerful questions. It is a process in which a coach guides the coachee to gain CLARITY, identify GOALS, ROADBLOCKS and RESOURCES. By creating a SAFE environment that is free from judgement, coaching can be a powerful tool to catalyse efficient and sustainable change.
Positive psychology coaching is a science-based, client-centred approach to coaching that helps people flourish. Unlike traditional coaching, which may focus primarily on performance and goal attainment, positive psychology coaching draws on empirical research to build positive emotions, engagement, fulfilling relationships and a sense of belonging, meaning and purpose, accomplishment, and other pillars of physical and mental health and wellbeing.
If you're not sure if coaching is what you need, just come for a chat and let's find out!
Sometimes, all we need to feel a little better, sift through the noise in our heads, or regain focus for the next step forward, is a chat. I'm on campus fulltime and, unless I'm currently chatting to one of your co-students, my door is always open for you!
