Academic Matters

The time has come for us to continue our academic growth

Important Academic Update

I have always believed King's College to be the place where you can do it all - sport, social, cultural, academic. At the heart of a residential college, is it being a place for students to receive support for their studies, not to work against them. We believe that focusing on your academic success should be an important part of your time here. To ensure that our community continues to thrive academically and to align our standards with our commitment to excellence, we are raising the minimum GPA requirement to remain in residence at King's College to 4.5, because we know what our students are capable of.

This change will take effect starting 2026, but I know that change doesn't always happen instantly. We want to assure you that the college is dedicated to providing you with the resources you need to meet and exceed this standard. We have a variety of academic support services available, including tutorials and academic advice from Stacey, Brian, and myself. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of these resources to help you succeed.

A Note on Academic Support and Tutorial Attendance

Our academic support program, especially the tutorials, is a key resource for your success. The budget for these services is directly tied to student engagement, and your attendance data is the only real metric we have to understand how many students are actively seeking academic support.

To ensure that we can continue to provide and even expand this program, it is crucial that every student scans the QR code every single time you attend a tutorial. This is not just about tracking attendance; it's about providing the college with the data needed to seek continual improvement of what we see as an already fantastic program.
