From the Deputy |
Thank you to our Residents and Staff who have worked together to overcome the challenges that we faced on the campus because of Ex-Cyclone Alfred. The past 24 hours of high rainfall has resulted in some water damage at the College. We are currently in the process of assessing our facilities.
In line with The University of Queensland, King’s College is only open to Residents and Staff until Wednesday, 12th March, 8.00am, or until such time as directed otherwise.
If your room has water damage, please ensure you have reported this to your Residential Leader, who will pass this information on to me.
We are currently in the process of assessing all room spaces that have taken water. There will be some disruption across the College over the coming week or two, and we may ask students to relocate on a case-by-case basis. The immediate priority is to dry out the rooms so that we can start to rectify the water damage.
For Residents who have chosen to travel before the weather event, we would ask you to consider delaying your return until Wednesday to allow us the time needed to assess and restore the campus. Please advise your Residential Leader of your plans.
To allow us the time needed to rectify issues across the campus, where possible, Associates should delay their return to the campus. If you are currently without power at your home and you wish to study in the Learning Centre, please contact Luke Richardson directly for approval.
Please stay up to date with your respective university for updates:
We have been advised to stay alert to updates from local authorities. For more information, visit:
Thank you again for your care and concern over the past few days. Please continue to support each other. If you do need a little extra support, please don’t hesitate to contact Adele Johnston or any member of the Staff team.
The last few days are a testimony to the strength, resilience and cooperation that define our college community. Together, we will get through the challenges ahead.
