With excitement about the new year commencing, and some major changes coming the College's way, our Student Leadership Team is keen to be proactive on action plans to make 2026 bigger and better! Our ADSS team, including Jock, has their eyes firmly set on creating a culture that ensures another fantastic year for all Residents and Associate Members.

We sat down with him recently to discuss what his priorities were for the College in 2026

What do you see as key priorities for 2026?

For me, my main focus is to build greater inclusion at King's by concentrating on creating a culture around everyone wanting to getting involved.

It's also a really important goal for the ADSS team this year to work on establishing stronger bonds and connections with the other colleges.

Why did you run for this leadership position?

I really enjoyed being an RL  in 2025. It was a great experience and it made me eager to have more of an impact on the college.

I wanted to be able to express my thoughts on the way the college could continue in the future, and specifically next year, considering there is going to be quite a large change with Greg departing. To be a part of this transformative time at King's excited me.

I also believe that one of my biggest personal strengths is talking to people and knowing how to help them out, so I thought that being an ADSS was the best avenue to use these skills and give me a higher capacity to do that for students.

Why do you think are the qualities of a great leader?

I think what makes a great leader is someone who leads by example, by doing the best they can everytime.

Someone might not always me the strongest, or fastest, or smartest in the room - but they give their best no matter what - and that's what makes them a strong leader.

What does legacy mean to you?

For me, creating a legacy would mean being able to leave a lasting impact on the college. I would want to be able to create a change for the better, and I'd know I achieved this by establishing positive impacts that wouldn't have happened without my involvement in the process.
