With excitement about the new year commencing, and some major changes coming the College's way, our Student Leadership Team is keen to be proactive on action plans to make 2026 bigger and better! Our ADSS team, including Alastair, has their eyes firmly set on creating a culture that ensures another fantastic year for all Residents and Associate Members.

We sat down with him recently to discuss what his priorities were for the College in 2026

What do you see as key priorities for 2026?

My key priorities for 2026 are promoting a much more united feel for the College. I want King's to be a space where everyone feels connected and valued.

We also want to shift our focus on really honing in on what we think the ‘King’s College’ culture truly is and what we want it to reflect. Once we have this definition of a culture that we have built and are proud of, we then want to ensure that this is passed onto the whole college.

Why did you run for this leadership position?

I ran for this position because I have now become very passionate about King’s, having done two years here that I've thoroughly enjoyed.

For my third and final year, I really wanted to be able to work with the other elected leaders as well as the broader members of the college to ensure that 2026 is another fantastic year.

Being in this position means I have the ability to promote change where it is needed, and I'm looking forward to being someone who all members of the college feel they can come to if they have any thoughts or concerns.

What do you think are the qualities of a great leader?

Personally, I think the qualities that make up a great leader is someone who is respectful, displays both courage and resilience, but also has positive communication skills and is very approachable. These will be the values that I will aim to lead with in 2026 and I believe that I am more than capable of doing this.

What does legacy mean to you?

To me, legacy represents what you will be remembered by or for. Legacy is what you leave behind and is dependent on the impact that one has on the place or situation they are in.

Going into this year, myself as well as all the leaders will look to leave our legacy on King’s College and leave it in a great place for it to be built on in future years.
