Starting college and university pushes you out of your comfort zone. Adjusting to a new environment and routine can feel overwhelming. Here are 3 practical tips to help you navigate your first semester successfully…

1.     Use a Diary

Your workload can pile up quickly so invest in a diary, or planner or use digital tools like Google Calendar or Notion. Enter assignment deadlines, class schedules and important dates to stay on top of your coursework.

2.     Go to Class

It may be tempting to skip lectures but attending classes helps you grasp concepts better and stay engaged with the material. Going to class also provides more opportunities to meet new people and make new friends.

3.     Ask for Help

Kings and UQ offer support services such as academic tutoring, career counselling and mental health support. Familiarise yourself with these resources early so you know where to turn if you need help.

Starting university and college is a big step, but with the right approach, it can be one of the best life experiences. Stay open to new opportunities, embrace challenges and enjoy the journey!
