If you're yet to meet him either in the LC or at lunch in the Dining Hall, Brian is our Associate Director of Academic Writing. He is one of the longest serving members of staff, having commenced as the Writing Consultant in 2017.
When it comes to any writing greater than 150 words, Brian should be both your first and last port of call. Whilst it is likely he won't be able to help you with the content of the report or essay, his ability to structure sentences and paragraphs, to cut unnecessary words to meet a word count, to structure essays, and to proof grammar and and referencing before submission.
I always recommend that the best use of Brian is to have him 'book-end' your writing - sit down with him to create a structure/plan and to help find suitable sources. Then after writing your draft, meet with him to review your work and to proof it before handing it in.
If you are yet to meet Brian, make it your goal before the end of semester; and book early! Typically the next 3 weeks is when he is at his busiest. Bookings can be made here, selecting one of the academic writing options at the bottom.
