Time to sharpen the proverbial pencil

Now that the excitement to start the year has settled, the reality of university deadlines can present some challenges.

Mid-semester is well and truly approaching and those assessment due dates are getting closer. For those of you with in-semester exams, they kick off this weekend. Now's the time to get organised and feel confident heading into this busy period leading up to the break.

Preparation is key to a smoother exam experience.

Making sure you've nailed the logistics is an easy win:

  • Time and Location: Double-check your personalised exam timetable (that was emailed to your UQ email) for the exact date, time, and location of each exam. Set reminders!
  • Student Card: Your student ID is required. If you haven't ordered it, go to Student Central today!
  • Approved Calculator: If your exam allows calculators, confirm the permitted models (fx-82) and ensure yours is working. Some calculators will require a sticker, and if the model number isn't clearly visible it may get confiscated.

Beyond the practicalities, focus on your study. Identify what works best for you – practice questions (AI can be great for this), summarising notes, or explaining concepts. Now is the time to put those strategies into action and solidify your understanding. Access support from your King's tutorials - they are a great resource.

Remember, you're not on your own. King's College offers fantastic support. For academic guidance and study strategies, reach out to Luke or Stacey. If you need help with academic writing and editing for your upcoming assignments, Brian is here to assist. And if you're feeling overwhelmed or stressed, please connect with Adele for wellbeing support.

This can be a demanding time, but remember that these busy times won't last forever. Stay focused, take care of yourselves, and don't hesitate to utilise the support available. Good luck with your preparation and those assessment tasks!
