As academic faculty, residents, and associate students here at King’s College, we experience a unique blend of academic rigor and vibrant campus life. Navigating our way through the complexities of university, we often find ourselves engrossed in a whirlwind of lectures, assignments, exams, and social/sporting/cultural engagements.

Academic rigor is the bedrock of our educational experience. It provides us with the tools to not only acquire knowledge but to retain it, building a sturdy foundation for our academic pursuits. This dedication fosters self-confidence and a belief in our abilities, enabling us to tackle challenges beyond the classroom. As students, we understand the importance of setting clear objectives to guide our efforts, whether they involve securing scholarships, pursuing dream careers, or furthering our studies.

The upcoming mid-semester break offers a chance to recharge. It is a time to reconnect with loved ones, explore personal interests, and possibly embark on new adventures. This break also encourages self-care, reminding us to prioritise our physical and emotional well-being through activities like exercise, meditation, leisure reading, and simply getting adequate rest.

As we prepare to return for the latter part of the semester, it is crucial to set achievable goals and establish a balanced schedule. Actively participating in classes, seeking assistance when needed, and engaging with our coursework contribute to a successful academic journey. Remember, asking for help is a sign of strength and growth.

We strive for equilibrium between academic excellence and self-care, understanding that having fun at College is just as important as excelling in academics. As we return, let us do so with renewed determination. In this pursuit, we not only excel academically but also craft a life filled with purpose, passion, and wisdom.

Netball & Rugby Cups

A massive congratulations to our Women's Netball and Men's Rugby teams for taking out the Newcombe and Peden & Francis and Kassulke Cups for 2024. Both matches were spirited and the victories deserved.

ICC Sport and Cultural Cups

As the year draws to an end, next week sees two major events in the calendar in the ICC Dancefest and ICC Athletics. Both our Men and Women have a chance to take out the shields in 2023 with a strong performance at ICC Athletics (Sunday starting at 2pm). All students at the College are asked to attend the Athletics Carnival to get behind our Sport Men and Women.

Spectators are also encouraged to attend ICC Dancefest to be held at the UQ Centre on Thursday 21 September, starting at 5.30pm and King’s can bring a max of 160 spectators. Please let us show our support as a community.

2024 Returners

Applications are now open. A reminder also that this is an application. You are not guaranteed a spot. This reminder is important as I'll be reviewing the behaviour and actions of some students and flats as we move through this period. We are a residential facility catering for many students.
