How did you hear about the opportunity?
Lynda reached out to share the opportunity with me. The vacancy was shared by an Old Collegian who is one of the Directors at ComponentsONLY.
What was the application process for the job?
I sent my resume and cover letter through Lynda and attended an interview with the Head of Finance at the ComponentsONLY office in Milton.
Describe the Careers support you received at King’s and how you think it helped you with the application process
Lynda reached out to me with the opportunity then assisted me with amending my resume and preparing the cover letter. She also gave me advice on how to prepare for the interview by anticipating the questions I was likely to be asked and helped me prepare my answers. This put me in the best position to secure the internship.
Describe your role as Finance Intern and your tasks in a typical day
I spend a lot of my time on the accounts payable side of things; speaking with customers to let them know when payments are late. I also assist with processing sales orders and managing expenditure within the business such as credit card usage from the sales team. It's a highly transactional business so it's a busy environment.
Who do you report to?
The Commercial Manager Harry Palmer.
What is your advice for other students at King’s looking for work?
To first seek advice from Lynda and make it clear what sort of roles you would be interested in. Also monitoring the job market and see what comes available.
