Originally from Maleny, the three Leonard siblings are all at King's and are currently in their first, second, and third years. Ben was the first to arrive in 2022 to study a Bachelor of Psychology at QUT. Ben's decision to pick King's originated from his Sunshine Coast friends wanting to go to King's; he said he “figured it was the right place for me.”

Following in his brother's footsteps, Sam was next to start at King's studying a Bachelor of Business and Economics at UQ after a gap year in the Northern Territory. He said Ben impacted his decision as he had spoken very highly of it and described it as the “best choice [he] ever [made].”

Next was Lucy, the youngest sibling, studying journalism and communication at QUT, who said going to King's was a “no-brainer” as her older brothers were already there.

When asked what it was like to have all your siblings at the same college, they said overall it had been a positive experience and made making friends in different years much easier. Ben said, “I have friends in other years, but it is always good to know you have two 'Rides or Dies' with you at college – I am glad they are here.”

However, having both your siblings under the same college roof comes with its challenges and has impacted their sibling dynamic. After not living together for six years, King's has brought them a lot closer but that means there have also been more sibling riffs. Lucy said, “I think I have had more fights with Ben this year than I have any other year, however, I do see both of my brothers now as my best friends.”

Since starting King's nearly three years ago Ben said that he has had plenty of memorable experiences, especially being a Residential Leader of his flat, which he is very proud of. But his most memorable moment was watching Lucy give a speech at the end of O-Week in which he felt like a proud older brother saying he “couldn't keep the smile off [his] face.”

Lucy also named this her most memorable moment as she saw her proud brother smiling back at her in the crowd.

Sam said his most memorable experience was D week (the first week back in semester two) as the week united the community and brought his flat closer together.
