From the Deputy CEO - Friday 22 August 2025

Busy times with ICC Competition and Events
ICC Women's Football
ICC Women's Football

I would like to applaud everyone for the level of competition and spectatorship at ICC Sport and Cultural activities over the past week. As I have mentioned earlier, we have a good chance to do well in these competitions, but I would encourage the community to rally particularly around Art Show, Athletics, Dancefest and 1 Act Play.

The end of 2025 in sight, I would encourage students to get behind any initiative that attracts community points. There are not many opportunities left, but Bushcare, Rotary, Some Who Cares, and ad-hoc volunteerism opportunities provide a great platform to obtain community points.

A reminder about the changed Lunch, and Dinner plans for this Saturday 23 August.

Carpark Applications and Allocations

The following acts as a guidance document to how room allocations are managed at King’s College.

  • The selection panel will use the following information when determining carpark allocations…
    • If you are not successful, what will your travel alternatives be?
    • Are there family circumstances that impact i.e. sick relatives, travel constraints relating to medical reasons
    • Do you have the capacity to ride-share with another student? i.e. can you take others or can others take you
    • What are your work requirements? i.e. Where, days, hours, times, shifts?
  • Some fundamentals when making decisions
    • Carparks will be issued Semester only - $400 per Semester in 2026
    • We are a St Lucia campus. Where you go to university will not be used in determining carparks
    • Gender will not be used when determining carparks
    • Year-level will not be used when determining carparks* (year level will only be used if 2 people of differing year levels have identical applications, whereby the older student will be preferenced
    • RL’s and ADSS will have their application preferenced; however, still needs to meet a criterion of need and will still need to apply
    • There are only 86 student carparks to allocate in 2026
    • The selection panel to decide carparks will consist of Luke Richardson (Director of Academic & Career Development), Julia Sambell (Registrar), & Andrew Eunson (Deputy CEO)
    • If someone relinquish their carpark, or they leave the College, the carpark will go back into the pool and the selection panel will revise the original application data to decide allocation.
    • All students will need to re-apply for a carpark for Semester Two.

N.b. $100 on-the-spot fines for vehicles found accessing the carpark when they don’t have approved access.

Community Points

With only a few opportunities left to gain community points for 2025, I would urge residents and associates to engage and volunteer as opportunities present themselves.

The King’s College community points program is designed to recognise those members of the College community who participate and contribute in a positive and meaningful way. These points will be used to aid in the room and car park allocation process but could also be utilised for Residential Leader selection, references by the College to employers or accommodation providers; and/or other decision-making procedures. They will be particularly important in helping to determine who is allocated a room when there is significant demand for that space.

Eligibility for points will be confirmed, where appropriate, with the KCSC Executive, Residential Leadership team, or College Administration. Eligible points will be derived from the current calendar year. Community and Service based activities need to be logged on the King’s College Greenbrand Site at Greenbrand.org. Please refer to the ‘How To’ video on the King’s Connect Resources page.
