As university students, we often face many challenges that can affect our mental health. From academic pressures to social expectations, it is no surprise that many of us may struggle with our mental wellbeing at some point during our time at university.
That is why it is crucial to act and talk about mental health openly and honestly. One organisation that is making a significant impact in this area is batyr, with their 1 sock 1 goal initiative.
The idea behind 1 sock 1 goal is simple but powerful: wear one brightly colored sock to start a conversation about mental health. By doing so, you can raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
It is easy to feel alone when struggling with mental health problems, but initiatives like 1 sock 1 goal can help us realise that we are not alone. By wearing a sock and starting a conversation, we can create a supportive community where everyone feels safe to share their struggles and seek help when they need it.
Moreover, talking about mental health openly can also encourage others to seek help when they need it. It can be difficult to take the first step in seeking support, but knowing that others are there to support you can make a significant difference.
By participating in 1 sock 1 goal, you can make a difference in someone's life. You never know who might be struggling and in need of support. By starting a conversation, you could be the person who helps someone take the first step in seeking help.
This weekend our women and men’s AFL, Rugby Leage and Soccer teams are taking part in this initiative, and I would like to comment the entire community for prioritising these conversations.

The Wyvern Review
A reminder to students that next Friday (19/05) will be the 1st edition of the all new 'The Wyvern Review'. This publication will go out every three weeks. I am keen to get some student-led content into these. An editorial / feature on something as well as a student profile........ someone doing cool things, 10 short fast questions etc. Ideally, I would love to get content together Monday (15/05) for this please and I would also be interested in some Socials to cross-pollinate and promote. Come and chat to me or shoot me an email/reply. Andrew
Kings Online Community
Have you set up your profile on the King’s Online Community? Over the coming weeks there will be some significant prizes for students who have set up a profile and are engaging with the content. You may want a carpark in the College...... well you may miss the opportunity to get one if you are not on board.
Etiquette attending events & behaviour at competitions
As we are all aware, sometimes emotions are high at some of the various ICC competitions. A quick reminder of some of my expectations of King’s Collegians at these events.
