Welcome back to Semester Two and I trust you have enjoyed a nice break.
Special mention to our Rowers who had an exception tour to the UK. Some amazing results and a real credit to the dedication of all rowers, coachers and support staff.
As we approach an exciting week, I would encourage everyone to think about how their actions and behaviours affect others, as well as themselves. It is a week that, at times, foolish decisions can be made. Please use your brain, remember our College values, and live these as best you can.
I'm looking forward to catching up with you at Beers, Burgers, Bubbles on Sunday as we welcome new members to the College, alongside our friends from Rotary Club Toowong.
We’re delighted to welcome Dr Maike Neuhaus to the King’s staff team as Associate Director of Student Wellbeing while Adele Johnston is on parental leave.
Maike brings a unique blend of academic expertise and practical experience to King’s, with a background in psychology and a specialisation in behaviour change science, empowerment, and positive psychology. Her career spans roles in academia, consulting, and as a solopreneur - across Australia and a few other countries with decent WIFI. She has led various high-impact wellbeing initiatives that have been published in high-impact journals and publications.
Maike is the founder of The Flourishing Doc and lives her purpose by supporting individuals and organisations in understanding what humans need to flourish so that they can realise their potential and create work-lives and impacts that excite them. With zest as her signature strength, Maike is unnervingly enthusiastic about empowering our students to thrive - not just academically, but emotionally, socially, and purposefully.
Maike used to be a digital nomad and is the mum of two teen sons. Her door is always open for our students and staff alike.
My pleasure to announce Juliet Charlize Zuber 🥰 Named after the greatest ‘love story’ of all time ❤️ Mum and dad doing well!
Please note that access to the student carpark (Gate 4) is for those with a paid carpark only. Please also note that this carpark has been oversubscribed in an attempt to provide more access to residents, as well as acknowledging that at times, there are quite a few spare parks.
No students are to park in Gate 3.
The RL's and ADSS will be giving info about the new Containers for Change bins around the College. Please put ONLY appropriate items in these bins - NOT GENERAL RUBBISH. This could be a really big earner, so please be responsible. If bins are damaged, there will be financial implications for those involved.
Please see below a schedule for D Week. I would ask students to please carefully read some basic expectations as you head into the week.
Please join us for this event on Sunday on the Terrace. Members of the Rotary Toowong Club will be in attendance, as they were last year. Dress is Smart Casual. Drinks from 5pm with Dinner at 5.30pm.
All new students to the College in Semester 2 are to meet Andrew me for a New Student Induction at 4pm Sunday 27 July in the JCR.
Last chance to change Meal Plans for Semester 2. There will be no changes past 8 August. Please message Emma (Head Porter).
Join us for what is looking like an amazing Wellbeing Week. Very important to RSVP for the Community Dinner on the Tuesday. There will only be a later take-away dinner option to those unable to make the Community Dinner.
