Stand Up!
2025 SLT
2025 SLT

You've heard the phrase, "Be an upstander, not a bystander." It's something I've worked hard to teach my kids and to manifest in my own behaviour at home, at work, in the world.

Most people are bystanders--not because they don't want to stand up, but because they're afraid to speak up, afraid of repercussions, don't observe the world around them enough, or simply because they don't know what to do or say in the moment. To be an upstander among bystanders takes courage and conviction. It takes empathy, which I've written about before. And, it takes a deep belief that the consequences of standing up are, well, inconsequential.

Very often, being an upstander means standing alone. That's hard to swallow as an adult. Imagine doing so as a kid.

'Why didn't anyone else stand up?'

Business Hours

Residents and associates at King's are reminded that the College needs to operate professionally Monday-Friday 9am till 5pm. What this means is that there is to be no broadcast loud music or public drinking in external areas of the College or on balconies during these hours. The events of yesterday should not have happened.

Under 18's

A reminder to students under the age of 18 that they are not to consume alcohol on campus. Those found doing so will be subject to disciplinary procedures.
