Wrapping up Semester 1

The essential academic checklist of what to do before departing King's.

With SWOTVAC having come and gone, the Learning Centre, Chapel, JCR (and basically everywhere on campus) have turned into study stations. It's good to see so many of our students applying themselves and trying to squeeze out the most of their final weeks of the semester.

As I often say to many Collegians, the learning process is not just about the grades. It's about understanding how much work needs to be done, how this work needs to be sustained rather than sporadic, and how shortcuts are never the answer. At the end of the day, you only have to answer to yourself, knowing that you've done everything that you can, and learning lessons from those less-than-perfect decisions throughout the semester. Remember, it's all part of the journey.

Some important points:

► If there are ever any issues, come and see me as soon as possible. My first instance is always to provide support without judgment; sometimes, actions must be taken quickly. So please don't be afraid to come and tell me that something has gone amiss.

► If you haven't already, please start to look at enrolling in Semester Two courses. If you need any advice about these, please come and see me (or call me if you have already gone home).

► If you are thinking about program changes (or institution changes), please have a chat with me so I can help.

► QUT students - your results must be sent to me within 48 hours of results coming out on Friday 5 July. Otherwise, your place at the College will be placed under review. A screenshot sent via messenger or email is perfect.

► If you are eligible for a supplementary exam, you only have three days to be able to apply for it. I'll be contacting all of those students eligible as soon as the results come out.

► Put these dates in your calendar!
UQ students -  Monday 17 June @ 12pm

QUT students -  Monday 10 June

These are the dates that timetabling opens so that you can pick your classes! Don't miss out and get stuck with those 8.00am/6.00pm classes.

I hope this exam period is productive for all, and then the break can be spent relaxing, unwinding, and reflecting, ready to tackle Semester Two.

All the best,
Luke
