From the Deputy CEO |
As we come to the end of our second week of classes, I continue to be impressed by the leadership being displayed around the flats and the energy around the Academic, Sporting, Cultural, Community and Social programs. Yesterday and today I had the pleasure of visiting a number of schools in Townsville and last night hosted an 'AT HOME' in Townsville. It was fantastic to listen to the stories from Old Collegians and connect with parents of current students, some whom have not yet had the opportunity to visit our campus at UQ.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend and week ahead as things start to get busy with Sport and Cultural programs. Up the Mighty Wyverns for ICC Swimming tonight and I'm looking forward to seeing the whole College support this great event!
Wall Calendar
Please feel free to forward the Wall Planner home to friends and family so they can keep on top of events around the College.
Cultural Review
As all King's collegians are aware, 2023 saw the College undertake a Cultural Review which was implemented by an external organisation. From this, 12 recommendations were made and the College now, through the People, Culture and Engagement Committee (PCE), are undertaking work through implementation of these recommendations through smaller actions spread across the year. As an output of the PCE Committee, I will endeavour to keep collegians up-to-date with how this process is tracking in 2024.
Flu Shots
Queensland Health will be offering free flu vaccines for all Queensland residents in 2024. This will include International students residing in Queensland.
UQ HealthCare and UQ Heath, Safety and Wellness have joined together to deliver these vaccines from April 22nd to UQ staff and students on campus at The Viewpoint Room, St Lucia.
The over 18 students will be able to book into the clinics, at a time that will be convenient for them, to have their flu vaccinations administered by Nurse Immunisers from UQ Healthcare. Those students that are under 18 will be able to book into UQ St Lucia Medical Centre or receive the free vaccine from their regular GP or local pharmacy.
UQ Student Services and HSW will be disseminating the information on “how to book” in late March or early April for students and staff to be able to access the clinics via the booking link.
We look forward to seeing students from the College accessing these clinics in 2024.
