On 25 April every year, Australians commemorate ANZAC Day. It commemorates the landing of Australian and New Zealand troops at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915. The date, 25 April, was officially named ANZAC Day in 1916.
In the words of Sir William Deane, Governor-General of Australia on ANZAC Day 1999 “ANZAC is not merely about loss. It is about courage, and endurance, and duty, and love of country, and mateship, and good humour and the survival of a sense of self-worth and decency in the face of dreadful odds.”
The speaker at this year’s Service will be Professor John Aaskov OAM, retired academic and Army Reservist, King’s Old Collegian (1967– 1970), College Fellow, King’s College Archive Group Member, and Order of Australia Medallist received for service to medical research in the field of infectious diseases.
“They gave their today for your tomorrow.”
You and your family are invited to attend the traditional ANZAC Day time of remembrance which will be held at the College on Friday, 25 April 2025, commencing at 7.00am
Lest We Forget
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."
